Got heart, don't feel

NOTE - This track has been omitted from the final album as it was felt that it did not fit the aesthetic.

'Got heart, don't feel' was originally crafted from a vinyl recording of a ballad, using splicing techniques individual words were cut out and rearranged to create the hook ''You've got heart, don't feel'' with a light organ accompaniment featured in the background. The premise behind the vocals meaning is left relatively open to interpretation, but the original concept was the idea related to the way in which people grow cold to the troubles and issues within their society. For example, living in Bristol you are constantly aware of the struggles of homelessness and drug addiction. Upon first moving to the city you might find yourself stopping and apologising every time someone asks for change, feeling bad for their situation can be referred to having 'heart', however as you spend more time in the city you start to 'feel' less, as it is something you are used to seeing every day, and so the impact of it is lessened. In this way you still have 'heart', you still care for these people, but you don't 'feel' to such an extent. It is a part of your environment and something you are acclimatised to.

In fitting with the mood of this track I spent the day yesterday working with guitarist Cam Crossley, adding bluesy/jazzy riffs and chords to accompany the track. This was then followed up with added piano samples a synth accompaniment and the reworking of the drums. The end result is a dissonant, relaxing and somewhat haunting loop which will be crafted into a full track in the near future.
